e are the Saskatchewan Team Cattle Penning Association.  Our Association encompasses the entire province, with Sanctioned events and Jackpots held throughout the province.  Please check our Show Dates link for dates and times.  The Saskatchewan Cattle Penning Association abides by the CTCPA Rules.  As of 2010 in the Saskatchewan Team Cattle Penning Association all riders 17 and under must wear a safety helmet.
he basics are that you have thirty cows numbered 0-9 with three sets of each number in the arena.  At one end of the arena there is a smaller pen with an open gate at one end.  Each team consists of three riders.  They enter to a starting line and wait.  The only other riders in the arena are called herd holders and there are two, one on each side of the herd.  The holders remain until the announcer calls a number, at which time the holders move quickly from the arena.  As soon as the number is called the other three riders advance on the herd looking for the number called. 
he object is to get all three of your numbered cows into the smaller pen at the other end of the arena within 60 seconds, without any extra numbers.  The extra numbers are known as trash and you are only aloud one across the line or you are called for being trashed out.  Team that pens their cows in the fastest time wins.
his is a sport that is fun for both contestants and spectators alike.  As a spectator you can be involved by encouraging the teams, but you must under no circumstances let the team know where their numbered cows are in the herd or the team will be disqualified.  You can learn more about the rules and regulations here.
